Languages

St Anthony’s Catholic College offers two languages - Italian and Japanese.  Primary students study both languages as specialist lessons from Prep to Year 6 at the Padua Campus.  When students move to the Assisi Campus, they must select one language to study for Years 7 and 8.  Study of the chosen language can continue from Years 9 to 12 as an elective subject.

Our College has a great relationship with two schools in Japan, Kamakura High School and Suiryo High School. Students in Japanese are given various opportunities to communicate with Japanese students including the letter exchange program, an online video conference program and so on. In addition, we have exchange programs with both schools. Our College has Japanese visitors as well – Japanese volunteers from the community, Japanese university students’ visit etc.

Over the course of students’ Italian study, they can engage with a number of cultural experiences such as Language Day and Careers Day, as well as gelato making.
