HISTORY AND INTRODUCTION

2019 saw the introduction of the St Anthony’s Catholic College Dragons Sports Development Program (Sports Academy), with the initial goal of preparing the College’s talented sportsmen/women for competition.

PROGRAM MISSION

The Dragons Sports Development Program was established to provide St Anthony’s students with greater opportunities to play and be coached in numerous sports at a consistent high level in order to be competitive both locally and on the wider stage. As an extracurricular program at the College, it is our mission to develop a culture of leadership within each member of this group and to provide role models within our College community.

Staff, students and helpers who are involved with the Dragons are expected to strive towards demonstrating the following traits:

Teamwork
  • Encouraging and supporting others to achieve common goals
  • Committing to a culture of honesty and trust
  • Motivating those around us to challenge themselves
  • Respecting the contribution of every individual
Inclusiveness
  • Engaging and empowering everyone to feel welcome
  • Reaching out to new participants and supporters
  • Promoting equality of opportunity in all its forms
  • Respecting and celebrating diversity in culture, gender and social background
Courage
  • Being prepared to make a difference by leading change
  • Having the strength to make the right decisions, placing fact ahead of emotion
  • Putting the team in front of individual needs
Excellence
  • Valuing the importance of every decision and every action
  • Striving to improve and innovate in everything we do
  • Setting clear goals against which we measure success
  • Inspiring the highest standards in ourselves and others
